Proposed new undergraduate and graduate programs will be considered by the NMHEAC, which is a committee that consists of the cabinet secretaries of higher education, department of workforce solutions, department of finance and administration, department of economic development, and the director of the legislative finance committee or their designees. The committee will also include four chief academic officers, one representing each higher education sector in the state.
The NMHEAC will meet four times a year at the HED office in Santa Fe:
**The meeting scheduled for October 12, 2023 has been rescheduled to October 18, 2023, the submission deadline of September 14 did not change.
*Due the COVID-19 crisis the meeting scheduled for May 1, 2020 and its submission deadline of April 3, 2020 has been postponed and rescheduled to a meeting date of June 5, 2020 and a submission date of May 1, 2020.
Committee meetings will begin at 10:30 AM and continue until the business on the agenda is complete. When making a request to add a new program, a completed application must be submitted to the NMHED Academic Affairs Portal on or before the submission date listed above.
