Higher Education Advisory Committee

Proposed new undergraduate and graduate programs will be considered by the New Mexico Higher Education Advisory Committee, NMHEAC, which is a committee that consists of the cabinet secretaries of higher education, department of workforce solutions, department of finance and administration, department of economic development, and the director of the legislative finance committee or their designees. The committee also includes four chief academic officers, one representing each higher education sector in the state.

The NMHEAC meets virtually approximately four times a year via Microsoft Teams:

Committee meetings will begin at 10:30 AM and continue until the business on the agenda is complete. When making a request to add a new program, a completed application must be submitted to the NMHED Academic Affairs Portal on or before the submission date listed above.
