OVERVIEW
The mission of the New Mexico Private Post-Secondary Schools Division (PPSD) is to provide consumer protection services to students who pursue degrees or career education at private post-secondary institutions governed by New Mexico laws. Private post-secondary educational institutions that offer educational services in New Mexico are required to apply and obtain appropriate State Authorization or Exemption Status. It is the institutions responsibility to show and proof compliance with current State laws.
The division is the custodian of student records ONLY for closed private post-secondary educational institution that do no longer have a designated custodian of student records. The closed schools list of private post-secondary educational institutions explains how student transcipts can be obtained.
Students with complaints or grievances against an institution should first seek to resolve their complaint or grievance directly with the institution in accordance with the institution's complaint or grievance policy. If a student is not satisfied with an institution's resolution, a student complaint may be submitted to the Department in writing.
Different types of State Authorization applications, Student transcript requests and other online services can be found here.
