Description

This position assists with statewide GEAR UP New Mexico campaigns, writing and distributing newsletter and other media, maintains a GEAR UP presence in social media, assists all GEAR UP state and partner district staff to educate community stakeholders, and increase community partnerships to support GEAR UP outcomes.

Job Responsibilities 
  • Create and manage an engaging social media presence for GUNM via the platforms of Facebook, lnstagram, and Twitter, manage the NMHED website, and maintain the GUNM photo library.
     
  • Develop and foster collaborative partnerships with university-based TRIO services, promote Student Success Agency (SSA) and mentorship opportunities for first-year college students, and ensure all first-year college students have access to SignalVine services.
     
  • Oversee all media and advertising for national GEAR UP campaigns, including: National GEAR UP Week, FAFSA, and College Signing week.
     
  • Participate in NMHED staff meetings, statewide GEAR UP meetings, and regional or national conferences as required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing and two (2) years of experience in journalism, advertising and and/or marketing.
Preferred Qualifications 
  • Experience in special event development and promotion
  • Experience in College Access or Higher Education
  • Refined written skills and articulate public speaking ability
  • Exemplary organizational acumen with well developed multi-tasking skills
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and Adobe Creative Suite Programs

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Must be able to lift 60 pounds and operate computers and photography equipment.
