
New Mexico Native American Tuition Scholarship
The New Mexico Higher Education Department has announced the launch of the New Mexico Native American Tuition Scholarship, a new initiative designed to expand access to higher education for Native American students attending bordering states with in-state tuition agreements. The program aims to reduce financial barriers and support academic success for Native American students pursuing undergraduate degrees at public colleges and universities bordering New Mexico including Arizona, Colorado, and Texas Tech University.
Eligibility
- New Mexico Tribal affiliation
- Must be a New Mexico Resident
- Has completed a high school diploma or high school equivalency credential at the time of award
- Priority will be given to New Mexico high school graduates
- Attending an institution in bordering states with in-state tuition agreements
- Has met the admission criteria at the eligible institution and has been accepted for full-time enrollment

The application opens every year on May 15th and closes on July 1st.
Where To Apply
The application will be available below starting May 15th and will be removed from the page on the closing date of July 1st.
Award
Award amounts shall not exceed one hundred percent of in-state tuition for the program at the eligible institution for the academic year.
The Native American Tuition Scholarship application for 2026 has closed.
The application will reopen on May 15, 2027.
