Santa Fe, N.M. – The New Mexico Higher Education Department’s Financial Aid Division experienced a temporary issue with its financial aid helpline on Aug. 13.
From Aug. 13 to Aug. 18, the Financial Aid Division was unable to receive calls or voicemails to the agency’s helpline.
The department resolved the problem and restored service by the late morning of Aug. 18
“We understand this is a busy time for students and families seeking assistance, and we appreciate the community’s patience as we worked to restore full service,” said Financial Aid Director Heather Romero.
Students and families who attempted to contact the helpline during the outage are encouraged to reach out again by phone at 1-800-279-9777 or by email at fin.aid@hed.nm.gov.
The New Mexico Higher Education Department also extends a warm welcome to students as they prepare for the new school year and encourages them to reach out for help with financial aid services.
