SANTA FE – The New Mexico Higher Education Department welcomes students, families and members of the public to attend the 2nd Annual Higher Education and Adult Education Day at the State Capitol on Tuesday, February 13th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Over 24 New Mexico colleges, universities and other education partners will share information with visitors on degree and certificate programs, scholarships and more. State adult education programs will also be on-site to share information about how to earn your high school equivalency credential or GED.
“I am thrilled we are hosting Higher Education and Adult Education Day for the second year in a row which will be a celebration of the remarkable achievements and growth within New Mexico’s educational landscape. I invite everyone to join us in exploring the wide array of programs, resources and opportunities available to them right in their home state,” said Higher Education Secretary Stephanie M. Rodriguez.
The event will feature a performance by Eastern New Mexico University’s Greyhound Sound, who recently won first place in both college divisions of Metallica’s “For Whom the Band Tolls” national school band competition.
Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has been invited to provide remarks as well as state legislators supportive of higher education. The day will also include a panel featuring recipients of New Mexico scholarship and loan repayment programs, a presentation on New Mexico’s College Basic Needs Project, recognition of Phi Theta Kappa community college honors students, and recognition of national and state adult education students of the year.
